Here is the background behind running... I turned 30 last year. My goal was to run a 5K before I turned 30. I have participated in many 5K's and completed them but never have I been able to run an entire 5K. My very first one was less than a year ago at Ballard Park. The 1st Annual St. Patrick's Day 5K. Chad was so sweet and ran with me. I finished in 36 minutes. That is way slow but I FINISHED!!!! I ran a little after the 5K but not in the heat of summer. My 2nd 5K was Race for the Cure in October. I was able to shave 3 minutes off my 5K time. About the same time I finishing training for Race for the Cure my tennis group decided to start a running group. After Race for the Cure I started running with them. We determined our goal was GumTree in May. Again I have participated in GumTree once or twice but never run the entire 10K. There were about 8 of us when we started and now there are only 3 (Miley Wise, Paige Sanders, and me).
I am putting my goal in writing so I can't back out! I am training for GumTree in May, my 1st 10K.
The 3 of us have been running 2 -3 times during the work week @ 5:15 am and most Saturdays. My longest run ever was last Sunday @ 4 miles. It felt great. I am getting close to feeling the endorphins I keep hearing about!
Well this Saturday for our training run Miley and I ran the TCPS Trail Run 5K. It was below 30 degrees, snowing, windy, muddy, and hilly..... And we still did it. We must be crazy. We both finished. My time was about 37 minutes. I normally would be disappointed but again it was below 30 degrees, snowing, windy, muddy, and hilly.

That is me running up a hill in the snow!
Miley and me after our run! We quickly headed to the Stables to celebrate. Yes we were the crazy ladies in spandex.
I have to say the 5K Saturday was harder than the 4 miles the weekend before. I feel good about my training and can't wait for the St. Patrick's Day 5K. This year it is on my 31st Birthday. I would love some company.....
